Johann Georg Elser, a Swabian carpenter, nearly changed the course of history. His attempt to kill Adolf Hitler with a bomb on November 8, 1939 failed only because the Nazi leader left the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich only 13 minutes before detonation. Elser, born January 4, 1903 in Königsbronn, was killed on April 9, 1945 in the Dachau concentration camp.
