Sept. 5 marks the 30th anniversary of the kidnapping of industrialist Hanns-Martin Schleyer, an event remembered as the beginning of the "German Autumn." Andreas Baader, shown here in the top left corner, was one of the founders of the RAF. In 1969, Baader was sentenced to prison for the arson bombing of a Frankfurt department store. While being allowed to study at a library in Berlin, masked men helped him break free. Three were wounded in the successful escape.
