Berlin's luxury department store Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) turned 100 years old in 2007. At 60,000 square meters, it is one of Europe's biggest department stores -- and a major tourist attraction. It employs roughly 2,000 people and sees up to 180,000 shoppers in a day. KaDeWe belongs to the Karstadt corporation.
