British historian and Oxford professor Timothy Garton Ash argues that Europeans are currently shifting to the right as a consequence of the global financial and economic crisis. "We are witnessing a return to nationalism as a reaction to the great crisis," he says. "And when that happen, voters tend to move to the right rather than the left, in some cases quite far to the right."
