Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, some restless young East Germans preferred to buck their nation's travel restrictions by going east. And while many East Germans were escaping to the west, these travelers had a different goal: "stealth travel" within the vast and challenging Soviet Union. This is a snapshot from one of those illicit journeys.
