A wave hitting the waterfront at Ver-sur-Mer, a village on the western coast of France on Sunday. The Atlantic storm, named Xynthia, hit the western coasts of France, Portugal and Spain on Saturday night and Sunday with torrential rain and winds of up to 166 kilometers per hour (103 miles per hour). It then moved into Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
