This memorial boulder inscribed with the names of Erwin Kern and Hermann Fischer, the men who assasinated Jewish German foreign minister Walther Rathenau in 1922, was placed at their grave in the village of Saaleck on July 17, the 90th anniversary of their death. No one knows for sure who was behind the stunt but locals suspect far-right sympathizers who gather each year at the site to honor the assassins.
