A look at E. coli bacteria through an electronic microscope. Scientists have failed so far to find the source of the E. coli outbreak that has been plaguing Germany since early May. Some 2,231 people in Germany have been infected by the enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) bacteria. Dozens of people from the Netherlands, Denmark and other European countries have also been infected. These are typically people who have recently visited northern Germany.
