On Sunday, half of Koblenz had to be evacuated so that a 1.8 ton World War II-era bomb found in the Rhine River recently could be defused. It was the biggest such evacuation in Germany since the war ended. Here, the bomb lies half submerged and surrounded by huge sacks of sand -- after it had been defused.
