The Internet has become a significant power factor in Russia. Last year, the country overtook Germany as Europe's largest Internet nation, with 70 million people from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok surfing the net. Domestic companies are trying to chip away at the dominance of US-based email, search-engine and social-networking companies.
