How did you meet?
Sekou: The other wife of Aïcha's father is my aunt. We got to know each other when I was a university student and Aïcha still went to school.
Aïcha: When Sekou asked me one day if I wanted to become his wife, I was very surprised. We had never gone out together before – we were just friends. I thought about it for a few weeks and finally said yes.
What do you love about him / her?
Aïcha: His open heartedness and the fact that he doesn't avoid problems, but takes responsibility.
Sekou: Aïcha is natural. She's not superficial like so many other women.
What does love mean to you?
Sekou: Love means passion, but as with everything else, there are limits and rules that you have to observe.
Aïcha: To me, love means tolerance. You can forgive someone you love for something you wouldn't tolerate in others.
What was the longest time you were separated from one another?
Sekou: I worked in Ziguinchor for five years – that's an eight-hour drive from Dakar. During this time, we didn't see each other for as long eight months.
What do you wish for?
Sekou: Our own business…
Aïcha: … and a big house of our own. And of course we want to see our children grow up happy.
Sekou: We would also like to travel.
Aïcha: Yes, outside of Africa – to Europe or America.
