How did you meet?
Elmira: At Baku University. We were students in the same school of studies. He took the first step. I thought he was very attractive. Before he went to Russia to do his military service, he proposed to me. We wrote each other a lot of letters during this time. He wrote many poems for me. To this day I have a suitcase full of his poems.
Israfil: I liked her a lot. We became friends. We went out a lot together back then. At one point I went to meet her parents.
What do you love about him / her?
Elmira: I had a lot of respect for him because he was a very good student. He has many positive characteristics that I value in people. And he's very good-looking.
Israfil: She has a pure character and she is beautiful. I like both her character and her appearance. We had a serious relationship from the beginning.
What does love mean to you?
Elmira: Pure, honest feelings. Affection for a person whose character and attitude towards life are good – someone who has a noble heart.
Israfil: That someone is close to my heart and the characters of the two people fit together. That two people are able to understand each other and appreciate the habits and traditions of the other.
What was the longest time you were separated from one another?
Elmira: The longest time we lived apart was during his military service.
Israfil: Two months, when I had to go through advanced training for the army. Otherwise it's very important to me to spend the evenings with my family, no matter where I am.
What do you wish for?
Elmira: That our children will have happy families too. That we're all healthy and can live in peace.
Israfil: The dream we share is that when we retire, we can play with our grandchildren.
