Thousands of protesting Greek farmers have used massive tractors to block traffic on major highways and throughways since January 20, effectively cutting Greece into three parts. Border routes to Bulgaria and Turkey have also been blocked. The farmers are demanding higher prices for cotton, corn and wheat. They expect the €500 million in funds from a promised agricultural aid package to be paid out quickly and for prices to be adjusted according to product and region.
