A monk in India gives this Buddha statue a spring cleaning ahead of the Buddha's 2,553rd birthday celebrations to be held on May 9. The bathing of Buddha statues is meant to symbolize both fresh starts in life and the care given to newborn babies. Many other countries already celebrated the birthday on May 2.
