Tens of thousands of people in the eastern German city of Leipzig remembered the momentous events of 1989 with a candlelight ceremony on Friday, Oct. 9. They were marking the 20th anniversary of an historic demonstration in the city which helped to bring down the Berlin Wall just a few weeks later. This photo shows a giant "89" full of candles.
