Balloons with messages attached are released by Palestinian children in the West Bank city of Ramallah, during an event organized by UNICEF. The balloons were released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Twenty years after the UN adopted a treaty guaranteeing children's rights, fewer children are dying and more are going to school. But an estimated one billion still lack services essential to their survival and development, UNICEF said on Thursday.
