This week Israeli forces banned Palestinian protestors from entering the Old City of Jerusalem. On Friday restrictions increased and included the barring of men under 50 from entering the Al-Aqsa mosque compound. Under heavy guard, worshippers performed their prayer ritual outside instead. Israel sealed off the area following a series of clashes that started late last month, amid tension in Jerusalem over controversial plans to build new homes for Jewish settlers.
