The populist cleric has inspired a massive protest movement calling for the government to step down. His cause was strengthened earlier in the week when the country's top court ordered the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on suspicion of corruption and nepotism, thrusting Pakistan into a major leadership crisis.
