The consequences of Greece's economic crisis have been manifest in a whole host of ways. Now, months after the government more than quadrupled the tax on heating oil, cash-strapped Greeks are opting for cheaper, more polluting ways to stay warm -- like firewood. Merchants like this one in Athens may be legitimate, but authorities have marked a rise in illegal logging across forests in the countryside. The phenomenon has also blanketed the capital with a hazy layer of smog.
