The magazine is published every Friday and distributed in 172 countries. It has a circulation of 1 million copies. Although a selection of DER SPIEGEL articles are available in English translation online each week, the printed edition of the magazine is available exclusively in the German language.

Is DER SPIEGEL available as an E-Paper?
The German-language edition of DER SPIEGEL magazine is available for subscription or individual purchase as an E-Paper. Each weekly edition is available for download starting at 8 a.m. (Central European Time) on Sundays. Single issues are available for 4. Annual subscriptions are available for 197.60, a savings of 5 percent over the usual cover price. Additional subscription plans are also available, including discounts for students.

All articles reprinted on SPIEGEL ONLINE are clearly labelled with a "From DER SPIEGEL" box in the upper left-hand column. The box also features the cover image of the current issue. If you would like to send a letter to the editor pertaining to a DER SPIEGEL article, please e-mail email@example.com.
All letters must include your postal mailing address and telephone number. The editors of DER SPIEGEL reserve the right to shorten letters and to edit them for clarity as well as to publish them in electronic form.
How can I find articles in the DER SPIEGEL archive?
All German-language articles published in DER SPIEGEL that are older than the most recent 12 months can be found and retrieved for free in our online archive, which features each issue published all the way back to our first in 1947. You can also browse the covers and tables of contents for issues that have been printed during the past 12 months.
Many DER SPIEGEL articles have also been published in English since the launch of the SPIEGEL ONLINE International website in October 2004. You can use our standard search interface to retrieve these articles.
