Foul Fashion: Germany's Next Top Models Get Head Lice
Contestants on Heidi Klum's hit show "Germany's Next Top Model" are scratching their heads over where they picked up lice, Thursday night's episode revealed. At least two of the young women are battling the itchy parasites, much to their revulsion.
It was supposed to be the "Sexy Edition" of Heidi Klum's show "Germany's Next Top Model 2013," but then something decidedly unsexy happened. When the episode aired on Thursday night, the audience found out that the one of the favorites to win the show had become infected with head lice, and then passed it on to at least one other contestant.
"I have no idea where they came from," 16-year-old contestant Anna Maria told the camera. "I probably tried on a hat while shopping, and suddenly I had lice."
The other young contestants registered their revulsion to the parasites, with some competitors admitting that they were feeling a bit itchy too. A statement from broadcaster ProSieben said that one other case had been confirmed, with another suspected case.
The show's head judge and host, supermodel Heidi Klum, described the infestation as "a little souvenir from New York," where the young women filmed their last episode.
In a show of friendship, contestant Sabrina helped Anna Maria use a special shampoo to get rid of the annoying pests. Having grown up on a farm, Sabrina "knows how to deal with the problem," ProSieben said.
