Have the news at your fingertips with SPIEGEL International's mobile site.

As a reader of SPIEGEL International, you already appreciate the site's unique mixture of daily news, original features and highlights from Germany's foremost news magazine SPIEGEL. But did you know you can also access the site from your mobile phone?

The entire content of the site is available in mobile format, complete with our popular photo galleries, so you can keep up to date with all the latest news and in-depth features wherever you are. Best of all, this service is free of charge -- you only pay your normal mobile phone charges.

There are actually two versions of the mobile site. The new mobile page, m.spiegel.de/international, is optimized for most modern smart phones, such as the iPhone, Android phones, the BlackBerry and phones running Windows 7. Other cell phones are automatically forwarded to the previous mobile page, ml.spiegel.de/international.

Here is an overview of some of the mobile site's main features:

  • Many articles feature photo galleries. Simply click or tap on the main photo gallery image to begin.
  • You can easily recommend articles using social media such as Twitter and Facebook. You can tweet an article or post it to Facebook simply by clicking on the appropriate icon in the "Share" section at the bottom of a story. Or click on the dropdown "more" menu for a selection of other social media platforms such as Digg and Stumble Upon.
  • You can also forward an article to a friend or colleague as a text message or email. The recipient simply clicks the link in the text to access the article on the mobile SPIEGEL International site. On the mobile site, simply click on the "E-Mail" link at the bottom of a story and enter the recipient's name and e-mail address or mobile phone number. Alternatively, if you are accessing the SPIEGEL International web site on a regular computer, you can click on "E-Mail" within an article and enter a cell phone number instead of an e-mail address, and the story will be sent to your friend's mobile phone.
  • The mobile version of SPIEGEL International features an RSS feed so you can keep up to date with the news while you are out and about. The Internet browser on your mobile phone must be able to handle RSS feeds. If it can't, you will have to download a new version. Either your browser will automatically give you the option of subscribing to the RSS feed, or you will have to enter the address of the SPIEGEL International RSS feed manually in the browser address line: http://m.spiegel.de/rss.do?id=international

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can also download the DER SPIEGEL in English app and get the best of SPIEGEL magazine on your device. Subscription pricing on the app is determined by the iTunes App Store and may vary from country to country, but prices in the United States and most European countries are set at $3.99 and €2.99 respectively for six months. You can find more details here.

Please note: Because the SPIEGEL International mobile site is attached to our German mother site, a few navigational features are in German for technical reasons. As the English site is a channel on the larger German mobile site, you must select International instead of Home to return to our start page.
