Clear-cutting in the Valcea region of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, uncontrolled logging has been a massive problem in Romania. The Romanian goverment estimates that roughly 4 million cubic meters (141 million cubic feet) of lumber is illegally removed by forest workers every year.
