The city of Koblenz is getting ready to defuse a 1.8-ton bomb in the Rhine River. A total of 45,000 people will have to be evacuated. Here, the site where the bomb was discovered is inspected on Tuesday.

A levee is being built around the bomb so that a dry space can be created around it. The bomb disposal team will work on it on Sunday.

The World War II bomb was found several days ago, after the level of the Rhine River had dropped because of the dry autumn in Germany.

Around 45,000 people will be evacuated from a 1.8 kilometer radius around the bomb site in what is Germany's biggest evacuation since the end of World War II.
