Deutsche Hungerhilfe, one of Germany's largest relief organizations, has been building a major road in Congo since 2002. The aim was to connect the city of Goma on Lake Kivu with Kisangani on the Congo River. The hope was that the road could provide an economic boost by providing inland traders and farmers access to transport on the Congo River. This stretch, near the village of Tingi-Tingi may look decent, but a long stretch of the road is impassable and dangerous.
