Picture This Underwater Eruption
An underwater volcano in the South Pacific, close to the coast of Tonga, has been erupting for days now, shooting smoke, steam and ash into the air. On Wednesday, March 18, the eruptions increased in size, sending up impressive plumes that could be seen from Tonga's capital Nuku'alofa. Authorities say that coastal villages close by are not yet as risk, but that the volcano has the potential to be devastating if it continues to grow in size.
